My “Famous” Immunity Elixir
When people find out I quit caffeine cold turkey in March of 2017, their jaws usually drop. For one of two reasons: they can’t fathom life without coffee (or caffeine) &/OR they can’t fathom that I’m operating completely caffeine-FREE (because of my high energy).
The truth is I actually love[ed] coffee and always joked that it was running through my veins. Born in the city where Starbucks was created + having a family of professional coffee connoisseurs, I truly never saw a time where it wouldn’t be part of my daily routine. The first time I quit coffee cold turkey was from 2011-2014, and I picked it back up (along with some other bad habits) until March 2017, when I had an extreme Adrenal Fatigue episode that resulted in 10+ straight days of triggered adrenaline (that fight or flight feeling, nonstop). I can get into the details of that journey another time if you’re interested… But all that being said, caffeine and I have broken up for the last time.
I’ve been promising to post this recipe for a few years now, so without any further delay — here it is! This coveted recipe is fail-proof and something that can be enjoyed every single day, any time of day. It’s an incredible elixir for the whole body and hopefully this post makes it super easy for you to share with others.
Golden Milk Maca-Cacao Elixir
There is A LOT of flexibility with this recipe; however, it will absolutely effective the taste + health benefits if modified. I use these specific ingredients for taste + potency reasons. However, you do you — customize your drink however you want and enjoy every sip!
2 cups milk of choice (I like organic unsweetened coconut)
1/2 teaspoon sweetener of choice (I like organic, raw, local honey)
1/8 teaspoon Organic Cinnamon
1 (heaping) teaspoon Organic Maca (I ONLY recommend Sol Raiz Organics because it’s 100% Lepidium Peruvianum Chacon, NOT Lepidium meyenii — huge difference, watch this video HERE to understand better — And check those labels!!)
1 (heaping) tablespoon Organic Cacao (I love + use this one)
1 (heaping) tablespoon Organic Golden Milk mix (I love + use Jarrow Formulas at the moment).
1 teaspoon Organic Mushroom Mix (I love + use Om Mushroom Immune Superfood Powder).
OPTIONAL: 1 (heaping) teaspoon Organic Collagen Peptides (This is a recent addition for me — I have been trying LiveWell with no complaints).
Heat milk over low-medium heat and stir in your sweetener. Remove from heat at desired temp 117-150 is perfect (just make sure it doesn’t boil or your burnt milk will ruin the taste). Pour into a VitaMix (or whatever blender you have), add in all the dry ingredients and blend for 5-10 seconds or until completely blended. Pour elixir into your favorite mug, and ENJOY!
