Christmas Weekend [recap]

Christmas 2016

I had such a beautiful Christmas weekend with my Mom. She worked a half-day on Friday + had Monday off, so we were able to happily take it easy the entire weekend. On Friday, it SNOWED and it was so beautiful… I don’t always keep up with the weather so it was a nice surprise as we officially entered Christmas Weekend.

Friday consisted of mostly hibernating and completing our elf-like activities, which was tons of fun. The house smelled like a fresh bakery, and I loved having an assembly line of treats and gifts to put together. I finished up some super easy DIY gifts including the top two crowd pleasers: lip balm and chocolate. So like any lazy chef genius — I combined the two. 😉

Both of these DIY’s are super basic — beyond easy for anyone to do — let me know if you would like the recipes!

Christmas Eve Dinner

We were blessed to have Christmas Eve at one of my Uncle’s — he is such a great host and truly has a perfect home for family gatherings. I’m always impressed with his table spread and the menu is always accommodating to everyone — he truly goes above and beyond for us and we were really looking forward to much needed family time.

After dinner we all gathered in the living room and celebrated one of our traditions of opening family gifts. It was so much fun — especially since our youngest cousin/niece is 2.5 and has the best personality EVER. There were some very important people missing, and of course they were all on our hearts — for me, it made the evening all the more special to be sharing it with family and close friends. Kodak moments!

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was absolutely gorgeous. I leisurely woke up and got the house all cozy. It was a crispy cold, freeze fog type of morning here in the Pacific Northwest, making it perfect for building a fire. We opened gifts, FaceTimed with the bro, and relaxed most of the day.

We had been eager to watch the Hillsong United | Let Hope Rise movie, and as the evening approached, we thought it was the perfect day and time to put it on. All I can say is WOW! If you haven’t seen this movie yet — please watch it!

I absolutely loved getting to see ‘behind the scenes” and learning more about these incredibly talented individuals. What they are doing is so inspiring and their God given talents are the work of the Holy Spirit. I was so impressed by their hard work, dedication, and their bold steps of walking in Faith, being vulnerable, and having the courage to crush fears.

By the end, I was making a joke to my mom that it’s kind of unfair to have so many talents — they surf, they’re creative and draw/write, they’re gorgeous souls inside and out, they play multiple instruments + have voices that transcend heaven — I don’t think there is anything more attractive than a Man of God.. plus checking all those other boxes #howyoudoin 😉

Current Fave

They have so many fantastic worship songs, and it’s difficult to pick just one — especially when Oceans is so impactful. I think right at this very moment my favorite is Touch The Sky because the lyrics, yes, but also the musical build up. I connect with this song so much. I can easily listen to it on repeat all day. They have multiple versions, too, all equally beautiful!
